JAZZ DANCE

Looking for Jazz Classes for Kids & Adults in Dubai & Abu Dhabi?

Group Jazz Lessons (Online & Face-to-Face)

New to Melodica in 2021 is Jazz dance for kids 7 and older.

Jazz dance is most often associated with musicals on Broadway in New York City, London’s West End, and many classic movie musicals like Mary Poppins, La La Land, High School Musical, Cats, West Side Story, Chicago, and Guys and Dolls.

Jazz dance combines techniques of classical ballet and modern dance with the current forms of popular dance. Jazz also has its own movement vocabulary ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms.

Jazz is a high-energy and fun form of dance that will have students leaving class with a smile on their faces. Since it uses a lot of movement from social dances, it changes fast and has a lot of familiar movements that make dancers feel more confident on the dance floor too. There is a saying among professional dancers that Ballet teaches technique, Contemporary and Modern dance give dancers an emotional connection to their dancing, and Jazz teaches how to perform with style and energy. The more dancers know about different styles of dance, the better dancers they are. It is always valuable to take classes in a variety of styles as they all support one another in every class.

Some of the most famous jazz dancers and choreographers are Bob Fosse, Luigi, Jerome Robbins, and Gus Giordano. Even Beyoncé and Michael Jackson have used Bob Fosse’s work in their music videos!

Melodica is now offering jazz classes for kids 7 and older in our JIP and Villa locations.  We look forward to see new and familiar faces trying out this exciting new class!
