It aims to achieve this through a series of physical and mental exercises. At the physical level, the methods comprise various yoga postures that aim to keep the body healthy. The mental techniques include breathing exercises  and meditation  to discipline the mind.

Absolutely! Many postures out there have modifications to help accommodate for lack of flexibility. The great thing about yoga is that it is not all about flexibility and stretching. Much of yoga is about finding balance, strength and listening to your own body's limitations.
